The chair as architecture: Bodil Kjaer and the BK10
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Danish architect and designer Bodil Kjaer, in 1959, at just 27 years old, conceived not only the iconic and cinematic James Bond desk but also the BK10 chair, expressing in it the connections with the landscape and the Scandinavian inner world. She created a piece that can be enjoyed both in the midst of nature and in the most sophisticated indoor settings. Over the years, the chair gained a family with a series that complement it, including a table, a lounge chair...
The article and subsequent research aim to delve into the significance of this design object, its relevance today, and its complexity despite its apparent simplicity.
Like its creator, the BK10 chair is a piece as significant as it is little known.
